Fresh off a Strikeforce Challengers 12 victory earlier this month, Ovince St. Preux (8-4 MMA, 2-0 SF) now is slotted to fight Benji Radach (19-5 MMA, 0-1 SF) at this weekend's "Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu" event. We today confirmed the late booking with Strikeforce spokesperson Mike Afromowitz, who said it'll take place at Light Heavyweight. The show takes place Saturday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, and Radach vs. St. Preux is part of the Showtime-televised main card.

The fight was booked when a main-card slot opened with the cancellation of a Herschel Walker vs. Scott Carson bout. (Walker, a former NFL great, suffered a facial cut in one of his final training sessions.)

St. Preux, a former linebacker for the University of Tennessee, recently scored a unanimous-decision victory over Antwain Britt in an entertaining Strikeforce Challengers 12 bout. It was his fifth consecutive win, the first four of which came via knockout. All of the fights have come as part of a busy 2010 fight schedule for St. Preux.

Radach, a former UFC and IFL fighter who's primarily competed at Middleweight, fights for just the second time in the past two years due to injuries. In April 2009, he made his Strikeforce debut and suffered a third-round knockout loss to Scott Smith. Prior to the defeat, he had six wins in seven fights, all via stoppage.

In lieu of a planned bout with Jon Fitch, Jake Ellenberger (23-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) instead is expected to meet welterweight prospect Carlos Eduardo Rocha (9-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) on the televised main card of UFC 126. Sources close to the event today told us verbal agreements are in place with contracts on the way. UFC 126 takes place February 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and airs on Pay-Per-View.
The Super Bowl weekend show features a Middleweight Title bout between reigning champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort.

Ellenberger was expected to meet Fitch at UFC 126. However, Fitch was rebooked and now slatted to face BJ Penn at UFC 127 following a tepid response to the intiially proposed matchup. Penn wowed UFC fans with a 21-second knockout victory over once-dominant Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes earlier this month at UFC 123, which set in motion the Fitch-Ellenberger cancellation.

Ellenberger in March dispatched hot prospect John Howard with a fearsome attack of ground and pound when they faced off at UFC on Versus 2. It was the Nebraskan's second consecutive Octagon victory after railroading veteran Mike Pyle at UFC 109 in February. The 25-year-old made his debut at UFC Fight Night 19 after an impressive stretch on the regional circuit and lost a razor-thin split decision to former WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit. It's the only loss in his past seven fights.

Rocha, meanwhile, is a little more than a month removed from an impressive Octagon debut in which he submitted "The Ultimate Fighter 11" runner-up Kris McCray with a kneebar at UFC 122. The undefeated Brazilian now has eight first-round stoppage victories to his credit, seven of which come by submission.

Todd Duffee has turned down offers from both Bellator and Strikeforce, according to Josh Gross. Apparently, he was offered a fight with Antonio Silva at the upcoming "Henderson vs Babalu" event and decided not to take it.

After a hard workout at Rafael Cordeiro's Kings MMA gym in Huntington Beach, Strikeforce Heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum sat down with CagePotato West Coast correspondent Ruben Vera to discuss his health and Strikeforce return. If all goes according to plan, Werdum says he'll be back in March, fighting Alistair Overeem for the Heavyweight Title. Werdum and Overeem met once before at "PRIDE Total Elimination Absolute" in May 2006, with Werdum winning by second-round kimura. At the time, Werdum says he had zero standup training to speak of. Now, he's a more complete fighter, and is certain that he'll finish Overeem in the first round of their rematch. "Overeem is my son, there's no problem" Werdum says with a laugh.

Other notes: His elbow is in good shape, and he's currently going through physical therapy following his recent surgery. He doesn't consider himself the world's #1 Heavyweight after upsetting Fedor Emelianenko in June — he still thinks Fedor is #1, though Cain Velasquez is right up there. As for Saturday's fights, Werdum predicts that his training partner Babalu Sobral will defeat Dan Henderson in the main event, and tells us to keep an eye on the undercard fighter Fernando Bettega.
