With Mayank’s and Mr.0’s opinion on how Taker’s career must end (posted here –
www.phenomforever.com/?p=6486), I too feel motivated to bring in another creative suggestion with regards to how Taker’s career can end. Please note that my views on how Taker’s career can end is just for imagination. I personally would go for Mayank’s version of Paul Bearer announcing Taker’s retirement and taking him back to Death Valley. However, it’s just another version that I’ve put together by trying to cover all Taker’s retirement cum streak rumors that have been discussed in this forum.
ASSUMED REAL SITUATION:
Mark Calaway feels he is getting injured more frequently than he used to, so he feels it’s not that fair to be a dormant champion. So he calls up Vince and presents a storyline that he thinks will be a good platform to retire from WWE but continue to be a locker room leader for the rest of his time with the WWE.
TAKER’S RETIREMENT STORYLINE BUILD-UP:
Taker defeats Rey Mysterio at the Royal Rumble in a decent match where Rey did all the physical work. Following the Rumble, Vince along with Vickie Guerrero start troubling Taker for his word against Vince McMahon on Raw. Somehow the storyline develops into a six-man tag match between Taker, Rey Mysterio, John Cena vs Vince, CM Punk (with Luke Gallows), and Batista at the Elimination Chamber PPV. The stipulation will be, if Taker loses then he will forfeit the title to Batista.
Taker wins the match and retains the title by Tombstoning Vince MacMahon. But in the match John Cena screws Batista from pinning Taker to save his team. At the same time Rey Mysterio hits the 619 on Luke Gallows and CM Punk and stops them from pinning Taker.
This ends up in a fresh rivalry between John Cena and Batista and CM Punk and Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 26. At the Royal Rumble Edge wins the Battle Royal and squashes Jericho in singles competition at Elimination Chamber. Christian somehow earns a place in the SmackDown EC to compete for the No.1 contender spot to face the Undertaker for WHC in WM 26. As Jericho got squashed by Edge in the earlier match he decides to take revenge on his younger brother Christian. Therefore he assaults Christian before the match and puts him off for a couple of months. He then goes on to replace Christian and win the EC.
The following night on SmackDown Edge seeks retribution for what Jericho did to his brother. The two men have a rematch on SmackDown. But the match ends up in a no contest as Randy Orton (WWE Champion) assaults Edge. Both Jericho and Orton continue to assault Edge. Just as Orton gets ready for a Punt Kick the bells toll and Darkness sets in. The next toll of the bell, Taker stares at both Jericho and Orton. Jericho and Orton try to assault Taker but he double chokeslams them and ends the show.
From then on, Edge (Royal Rumble winner/baby face) and Orton (WWE Champion/heel) develop a rivalry. Meanwhile Taker and Jericho develop a fresh rivalry. Jericho is shown more aggressive and dominant. He is also backed by Vickie Guerrero. They two have a match at WM 26, which Taker wins and elevates his streak to 18–0.
Subsequently Dibiase Jr., wins the Money in the Bank ladder match at WM 26.
Following PPV at Backlash, Taker beats all odds and defeats Jericho in a rematch of WM 26 for the WHC in a Casket Match. But after the match Dibiase cashes in the money and assaults Taker and pins him to become the new WHC. Meanwhile Jericho comes out of the casket and both end up beating Taker and put him in a casket and burn him for good.
In the following weeks Jericho and Dibiase brag about how they have ended the wrath of the Deadman.
At Breaking Point, just after Dibiase completes a match and looks tired and worked up, Taker returns and immediately makes Dibiase bleed by locking the Hell’s Gate on him. The two have a match at Hell in a Cell. Taker wins that match after Dibiase dominates the whole match. Then the following night on Smackdown Dibiase will point out the fact that he looked more dominant in the match and he will continue to dominate the WWE and the Deadman. Then he moves on to a new storyline involving his father Dibiase Sr. This whole storyline will end up in Dibiase Jr vs Taker at Survivor Series and if Taker loses he will retire.
This match will be a normal singles match. Just like how Cowboy Bob Orton distracted Taker to make his son Randy Orton win at SummerSlam 2005, Dibiase Sr, will distract Taker for Dibiase Jr to defeat Taker and hence make him retire. After the match, when son and dad celebrate, Taker will sit-up and deliver a Choke Slam to Dibiase Sr and a Tombstone to Dibiase Jr.
With a small promo on the fact that he is retiring with his head bowed down, Taker will do one last kneel down to the crowd. As he does his knelt down posture facing the crowd, another Mega Gong will Toll, and Taker would have disappeared and the whole ring will be full of smoke.
AFTER TAKER’S RETIREMENT:
Dibiase will continue to be a heel and will brag about his achievement of making Taker retire, and fulfilling his Dad’s dream. Then around WM 27, Dibiase will get too overconfident about his achievements of beating the Deadman, Orton, Shawn Michaels etc., he will throw an open challenge to anyone who is gutsy enough to face him. Though people like Cody Rhodes, John Morrison and other will try but they will fail in the following weeks on SmackDown. Then on the night of WrestleMania Dibiase will continue giving promos that nobody is worthy enough to face him. Then he will be interrupted by a Kid Rock Entrance music. Something that we all are familiar with. Then comes a bike with a man wearing head bands and glasses with a dark overcoat. He is none other than the American Bad Ass/Big Evil Taker.
He comes and kicks Dibiase right, left, and centre. He finally delivers the Tombstone on Dibiase and pins him to elevate his WM streak to 19–0. Followed by the victory he points fingers at the announce table and delivers the Last ride to Dibiase through it. Followed by that assault Taker pushes off the existing guy and takes his seat to do commentary as the Big Evil. Then in the following months, Taker becomes a color commentator (just like how JBL did) for another year or so as Mark “The Bad Ass” Calaway. As he does the commentary, there are few segments shown where Taker interacts with new wrestlers as the Locker Room Leader and settles their issues.
Within this time-frame, the WWE find a Giant Monster who can be at least as capable as Kane or Psycho Sid but not replicating the Deadman gimmick but some unusual wrestler who give the creeps to the audience but at the same time can wrestle. Let’s call him The Volcano.
Once when Taker tries to resolve a locker room issue with The Volcano, he gets continuously assaulted by him. This ends up in a match between The Volcano and Taker as the American Bad Ass at EC/No Way Out 2012. Taker is comprehensively overpowered and beaten by The Volcano. After this match, The Volcano continues his assault on Taker and in the process humiliates Taker by stripping off his shirt (as we don’t often see Taker bare chested) and spitting on his face.
After The Volcano is gone, Taker lays helpless and wounded. Gong! The lights go off and the druids come and gather the battered body of Taker and put him in a casket and walk away.
Following weeks, we have the characteristic promo of the return of the Deadman. Mind Games between The Volcano, the man who humiliated the Bad Ass Taker, and the Deadman Undertaker. Then at WM 2012, The Volcano goes one on one with the Deadman Taker. This another decent match and is also Taker’s official last match. Taker wins the match with the Tombstone on The Volcano for one last time and elevates his streak to 20–0. Paul Bearer comes and says “It’s time to return to Death Valley” and they leave the WWE ring. After this match The Volcano becomes another prominent wrestler like Kane or Psyco Sid and has an illustrious career hence forth.
The following week on SmackDown Taker officially retires, and returns to the ring as the American Bad Ass/Big Evil and participates in his retirement ceremony. He has promos with Vince McMahon, Triple H, Kane, and Shawn Michaels — perhaps even a small teaser with Michelle McCool ;-)) Before he waves the finally good bye to the crowd, he passes over the locker room leader position to either Triple H or Chris Jericho.
PS: Mark Calaway will be inducted as the Hall of Famer in 2013 — that is if the world exists until then (lol!)
First he will ride his bike as the Bad Ass. After receiving the award, he will address the audience as the Bad Ass. As he speaks the bells toll and the arena goes pitch dark. Then as the Blue Light and flames spread across the arena, and we see The Deadman in his costume. After a few words, for one last time he ends his presence in the WWE with those three infamous words of his…REST IN PEACE!
